About Kavitha
Kavitha Reddy Goyal was born in India and raised in Ireland and the northeastern U.S. After a rewarding 30-year career in medicine and the biopharmaceutical industry, Kavitha is enjoying a pivot to writing fiction with her debut novel, Hawk Lane.
She’d always had creative outlets, from painting to cooking global cuisines to designing window treatments, but fiction was brand new territory. Her previous writing had been limited to scientific articles and regulatory documents, so she approached the shift with curiosity and without expectation. With support from local and online writing communities and various types of workshops, she began exploration of the craft and, to her surprise, finished the first draft of her novel in under five months.
Having diagnosed and treated mental illness and having seen firsthand the impact of apathy and fear in our daily lives, she is inspired to create relatable characters who demonstrate hope and choice in overcoming obstacles. Several of her short stories have been published online or in print in national literary journals. A second novel is in the works.
She's a wife and mother and lives in the Philadelphia area. When she's not writing, she loves to explore nature and the arts, especially hiking, scuba diving, and film.
